Book
Some of WA's top professional photographers, assembled by Michael Fletcher from Christian Fletcher Photo Images, recorded the events of the day. Racing the runners from location to location, 2 teams of photographers documented the drama and beauty of the Capes region, its residents and visitors. While the timeline for this photography marathon was set by the progress of the runners in their journey north, the photographers were not limited to capturing the sweat and toil of the long distance runner. They were free to immortalise whatever they saw from those points where they met the runners on the course (and a few places in between, as they leapfrogged each other up the coast to Cape Naturaliste).
Thousands of photographs are now being studied, culled and re-touched until we are left with the ingredients of a high quality photo journal of an epic journey on the longest day of 2010.
The book is due to be released in 2011 and a significant proportion of the proceeds of sales will be donated to The Fred Hollows Foundation to support its work in eradicating avoidable blindness.
